Aim and Scope
Throughout history, caves have been of passionate interest to many people. Today, scientists of various sorts, mainly geologists and biologists, have found caves useful and fascinating subjects for scientific study. Cave Research is seeking original, unpublished manuscripts concerning the scientific study of cave geology, cave biology, cave chemistry, cave physics, exploration techniques, archaeology, paleontology, and folklore. The topics of geological study of caves include caves formation, types of caves, cave features, Karst features, hydrology and hydrogeology, speleothems and other cave deposits, cave ages and paleoclimate, use of caves, ground water contamination and land use, hazards in cave regions, drainage systems evolution, and surface topography evolution. The topics of cave biology include discovering, describing, and classifying organisms from caves, evolution and adaptation in caves, cave invasion, distribution and diversity, morphology, communities and habitats, biogeography and dispersal, ecology, the characteristics of cave animals, phylogenesis, speciation mechanisms, research and conservation of cave animals.
Cave Research is the first open access journal focusing on cave as a whole. It aims to represent and re-unite the various disciplines that look at cave from different perspectives and at providing the basis for a comprehensive understanding of cave on all levels of analysis. Cave Research provides a unique opportunity to publish high quality research and reviews on cave issues that will be internationally accessible to any reader at no cost. Currently, Cave Research focuses on the research of cave issues from Chinese scholars in China and around the world. Cave Research is edited by expert researchers in the field. All articles are subject to rigorous peer review. In addition to primary research articles, Cave Research also publishes insightful review and hypothesis articles, educational primer articles, and reviews of meetings in the field, all of which are commissioned from leading scientists.
